PLEASE NOTE:

The legal name of our organisation is “Vancouver Society for Early Music” – and this name should be used in any legal documents (wills, bequests, etc.) to designate funds towards our organisation. If you wish to explore this, please contact us, and one of our Board members or Senior Staff members will be happy to discuss the options with you.

Under current tax legislation, there are also significant potential benefits if you want to make your contribution in the form of donated securities. One of our Board members with expertise in these matters will be happy to discuss the options with you.

Donations to Early Music Vancouver are fully tax deductible, and will generate significant tax credits when you file your income tax return at the end of the year. You can calculate the results here; enter any one of the following variables in order to calculate the other two:

The tax credit calculator for individuals on this page assumes that the donor is resident in British Columbia and uses this province’s tax credit rates. We encourage you to consult with a qualified financial advisor for the most accurate information with respect to your particular taxation situation. The formula for the above calculation is:
  • LINE 1: entered amount
  • LINE 2: (0.2206 x donation amount (up to $200)) + (0.437 x (donation amount minus $200)):
    2009 Federal Tax Credit: 15% on Donation Amount up to $200 then 29% on remainder;
    2009 BC Provincial Tax Credit: 5.06% on Donation Amount up to $200, then 14.7% on remainder.

A contribution to our Endowment Fund will help secure our ongoing financial stability in perpetuity' The interest generated by this Fund, which currently stands at ca $500,000, will generate interest to support our annual activities.
